The 30th Annual Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Awards Dinner was another celebration to remember. Troy Smith was welcomed to Fort Worth at a private reception and dinner at Joe T. Garcia’s Mexican Restaurant on Sunday, February 18. On Monday, a press conference was held for this year’s recipients: American Airlines and The Fort Worth Club, co-recipients of the Charles Ringler Founder’s Award; Paul Hornung, the 2006 Legends Award; Rhodes Coffey, the 2006 High School Scholarship recipient from the Science and Engineering Magnet in Dallas and Troy Smith, the 2006 Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award winner. The media also had the opportunity to interview former O’Brien Award winners: Troy Aikman, Todd Blackledge, Earl Campbell, Eric Crouch, Ty Detmer, Jim McMahon, Don McPherson and Gino Torretta.
