Lamar Hunt
Lamar Hunt serves as a Dave O’Brien Foundation
trustee, and he has been a source of inspiration as well
as strategic guidance and financial contributions for
more than 24 years. Hunt was the driving force
behind the development and creation of the Davey O’Brien
Hall of Fame which houses the Davey O’Brien National
Quarterback Award Trophy, O’Brien memorabilia,
and exhibits featuring former National Quarterback Award
winners. Recognized as the guiding force behind
the formation of both the American Football League and
the Kansas City Chiefs, he has served as a positive influence
on the game of professional football since he conceived
the American Football League in 1959. Whether it
was serving as the driving force behind the formation
of the AFL, playing a pivotal role in the AFL-NFL merger
in the 1960s, or overseeing many crucial issues concerning
professional football and the Chiefs franchise during
the past four decades, there is little question that
few individuals have helped change the face of America’s
favorite game for the better as much as Hunt. |

Don Looney
Hometown football hero and former Texas Christian University
teammate of Davey O’Brien, Don Looney is known
as a successful oilman and a generous philanthropist. He
was O’Brien’s favorite receiver on TCU’s
1938 national championship team that turned O’Brien
into a national hero, and he was names All-Southwest
Conference End in 1938 and 1939. “Don had
the best pair of hands I ever threw to,” O’Brien
once said. “Davey is only famous because
I caught his passes,” Looney has said with a smile. After
TCU, Looney joined O’Brien in Philadelphia playing
for the Eagles. The developed a very special bond
over the years, and their friendship never faltered. Time
and again, Looney has also lent his support – financial
and otherwise – to the foundation that honors his
friend and teammate. |
