Question: How much does the Fan Vote count in determining the 2008 O’Brien Winner?
Answer: In the first round of voting, the top 3 quarterbacks in the Fan Vote will automatically be added to the Semifinalist list. After that, the Fan Vote will count for 5% in determining both the Finalists and Winner. (Please note that voting totals are cleared after each round.) The rest of the vote is determined by the Davey O’Brien National Selection Committee, which is composed of national sportswriters and commentators/analysts, as well as former O’Brien winners. We ask the Selection Committee to evaluate each candidate on the following criteria: quarterback skills/athletic ability, academics, reputation as a team player, character, leadership and sportsmanship.

Question: I have registered for the Fan Vote & Sweepstakes but have not received any e-mails?
Answer: You should receive two e-mails. The first e-mail will come immediately after you register as a confirmation that your information has been received. After 24 hours, you will receive a second verification e-mail containing a link that you will need to click (or cut and paste into your web browser) to verify your e-mail address. Once you’ve clicked on the link you will be prompted to begin voting. If you did not receive either of these e-mails, you may need to check your spam/junk folder. Depending on the security settings with your e-mail provider, the e-mail may have gotten blocked by your spam/junk filter. To avoid this problem, please add “FanVote@DaveyOBrien.org” to your list of approved senders. If it has been 24 hours or longer since you initially registered and you would like to have your verification e-mail re-sent to you, please click here or click the "Forgot / Resend Password" link on the registration page.
Question: Why can’t I vote as soon as I register?
Answer: After signing up to register for the Fan Vote, the system will wait 24 hours before sending you your confirmation e-mail with the link to verify your registration. This is an automated feature within the voting system to ensure the validity of each registered e-mail address. We appreciate your patience in waiting for your confirmation e-mail and encourage you to spread the word about the O’Brien Fan Vote as you wait!
Question: How do I set up my username and password if I voted last year through a voting link?
Answer: On or before September 2 you should receive an e-mail from FanVote@DaveyOBrien.org to the address you registered last year. This e-mail contains a link to confirm/update your information and begin voting. If you did not receive this e-mail, please click here or click the "Forgot / Resend Password" link on the registration page.
Question: How do I sign up to receive press releases featuring the latest O’Brien news?
Answer: If you would like to receive press releases from the Davey O’Brien Foundation, click the following link to visit our press release sign up page and add yourself to the press releases. To ensure the press releases do not get blocked by your spam/junk filter, please add “Media@DaveyOBrien.org” to your list of approved senders and add yourself to the press release distribution list.
Question: How do I purchase tickets to the Davey O’Brien Awards Dinner?
Answer: Individual tickets to the Awards Dinner go on sale at the end of September/beginning of October. If you would like to sign up to be added to the mailing list to receive ticket information once tickets are available, please e-mail Info@DaveyOBrien.org and write “Awards Dinner Information” in the subject line and include your name and mailing address in the body of the e-mail.
Question: How do I apply for the Davey O’Brien High School Scholarship?
Answer: The scholarship is available for high school senior student-athletes in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Specifically, students must attend a public or private school in one of the following counties: Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Johnson, Parker, Tarrant or Wise. The Foundation will only accept one application per high school. Since applications are mailed to the attention of the head counselors at each school in the eligible counties and it is up to he/she to determine which student is their school’s nominee, please visit with your head counselor if you are eligible and interested in applying.
